Flourishing in Failure . . . Managing Mistakes Like a Comedian

Nobody tries to fail, but sometimes things go “not as planned,” and recovery is rough. Comedians know this more than anyone because they have a very high profile job. And when they flub up, or something goes wrong, it needs to be fixed fast and on the spot. Jan gives tips on how to handle, avoid and move through these situations. Don’t let mistakes and mishaps hinder future success!  This keynote is based on Jan’s new book, “Convention Comedian:  Stories and Wisdom From Two Decades of Chicken Dinners and Comedy Clubs”.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES – at the end of this keynote session:

  • Participants will gain a thorough understanding of the major causes of failure
  • Participants will learn 5 skills they can develop for avoiding pitfalls and assuring success
  • Participants will discover techniques to use when things are going awry
  • Participants will gain tools to assess the aftermath and then move forward

“Jan was just what we needed at the end of our 3 day conference to send us off with humor and humility.  She not only made us LOL many times, she enlightened us on how to shift the energy in work situations to create a new way of looking at things.  Her practical suggestions were “spot on” and can be applied to any group setting.  Also, her newest session Flourishing in Failure received rave reviews on our evaluations.  Thank you, Jan McInnis for ending our conference on a high note!”
