“Selecting a keynote speaker is a leap of faith. You might have recommendations and watch videos, but you really never know what you’re getting until that moment on the podium. Jan, I’m pleased to say that you greatly exceeded our high expectations. After your presentation, we had members who said things like, “I normally don’t like humorous keynote presentations, but I loved Jan! She was both much funnier than I expected and had really great insights.” The faith we placed in you turned out to be well founded. Thanks and congratulations on your efforts.”
“Jan McInnis’ presentation ‘Finding the Funny in Change’ was just the right kickoff for our three state home health conference. Jan’s comedic skill, blended perfectly with information about best practice using humor in the workplace. She was a favorite of the conference.”
Just wanted to thank you again for a job well done. You were the perfect spark to kick off our annual conference. Your high energy and upbeat style set the tone for what turned out to be a successful event.”
“Jan McInnis was the featured entertainment at the Lewis County General Hospital’s Annual Breast Cancer Awareness dinner. The evening is filled with inspiration, love and laughter to encourage those living with cancer, celebrate those who have fought the disease and honor those who have lost their battle. Each year is a sell out crowd with over 300 attendees. Every year the Dinner committee looks for a clean comedian, who can entertain a diverse & relatively conservative group, at a reasonable price. Jan completely met our needs! She was easy to work with & definitely put smiles on the faces of everyone there!”
“Jan spoke about how to use humor when implementing changes in the healthcare industry (“Finding the Funny in Change”). Some people “busted a gut” laughing so hard, and she left our audience of CFO’s and Risk Managers in stitches (what is the ICD 10 code for that?). I think she would be a great speaker for any healthcare audience and everyone else. They say laughter is the best medicine, and it may be the only thing your healthcare insurance pays for these days…”
“Jan- I’m compiling our evaluation results from the AHCAP conference and thought you would like to hear how much our attendees loved your session. We got a 66% response rate on our survey and they scored your closing session 4.62 out of 5. That is the highest score we’ve received in the past four years for a closing session, and only one session this year rated higher (the opening keynote on Market Forces Shaping Healthcare…go figure!). Here were the comments specifically about your session:
¨What a great way to end a conference – Jan McInnis was hysterical. ¨Thank you for a great laugh! ¨LOVED Jan McInnis…. I haven’t laughed that much in years!! ¨ Jan McInnis was FABULOUS!!!!!!!!! Every year we should end on humor … something VERY UPBEAT. Thank you.
So I just wanted to say thank you again. You were a perfect match for our group and they loved you! “
“The IONL attendees enjoyed Jan’s energy. They said it was great to end the conference on a funny & positive note! Thanks again!”.
“Thank you for making us laugh! I know that’s your job, but you were so naturally fun and funny that you helped make our 2017 North Carolina GlaxoSmithKline Foundation Child Health Recognition awards ceremony a rousing success! Thank you for taking the time to be with us at the ceremony, and for providing us with your insights about using humor to a positive effect in our lives, at work and at home!”
“You were the absolute perfect start to our annual Florida MGMA conference! With all of the things affecting healthcare today, we as practice administrators live in a world of doom and gloom. It was great to start our conference out with some humor and you gave us relevant ways to inject humor into our daily jobs! I believe laughter is the best medicine and your act really set the stage for the rest of our conference. You have a true knack for tailoring your routine to relate to the individuals you are speaking to. Thank you for doing an amazing job!”
“Jan was the star attraction at our annual conference, she was upbeat & topical and had the audience in stitches. She was also a true pleasure to work with; professional, timely and low maintenance”
“I want to thank you again for your wonderful presentation at the PALA Conference. We sent out an evaluation to our members after the event and your session received all “Excellent and Very Good”! I am very grateful for the time and effort you took to share your expertise with our attendees.“
“Jan was a SUPERB ending to our NMHIMA fall conference. She kept us all engaged, laughing, and sent us away on a high note!”
“Thank you for your talk at the FSASC conference in Orlando, I really enjoyed every minute of it. You really inspired me and I wanted to write to requested your slides as a way of reviewing the information so hopefully I can find the funny in situations, because right now it is a challenge.”
“I appreciated the opportunity to have a conference call with Jan and our P.R. person. Coupled with the materials I sent her she clearly did some research about Angela Hospice. She had such a great mix of material, not only original but that everyone in the room could relate to. While they were all women, there was quite an age range. And literally and figuratively – proof you could even have a Felician Sister in attendance – without offending her! Comments we heard from guests include: “Jan was the best comedian yet” (this was the 3rd year for this event) and “will I automatically get an invitation for next year’s event?” – nothing but favorable comments. In my work I know I can’t please all 600 people in the room – however this year – I feel like we did! We – being Jan of course! While we would not book the same comedian two years in a row we would consider her in the years ahead!”
“I just wanted to let you know that we felt you did an amazing job at the Health Net Provider Network Management Conference. Our evaluation forms show that you were a big hit, and I have received a great number of comments complimenting your performance. The attention to detail really showed through, and the personal touches seemed to resonate well with the whole group in attendance. Thank you so much for all your hard work!”
“Jan’s presentation was the perfect ending to a long day of learning. She lifted our spirits, gave us food for thought, and sent us home on a high! I want to thank you again for your wonderful presentation at the PALA Conference. We sent out an evaluation to our members after the event and your session received all “Excellent and Very Good”! I am very grateful for the time and effort you took to share your expertise with our attendees.“
“Thank you for being our keynote speaker this year. I must say that your presentation was most enjoyable and certainly memorable. I have read several chapters into your book and I will try to incorporate some of your ideas into my meetings and managerial communications – I’m an engineer, so this will be a challenge for me! Once again, thank you. I hope to see another of your presentations in the future.”
“Thank you once again for your participation at last month’s LDI (Leadership Development Institute)! Everyone really enjoyed your presentation! At the very beginning of LDI we usually conduct an activity called the “Content Before Connection Exercise.” Your presentation replaced this activity and it still accomplished the goal.”
“Thank you again for joining us this year. You were awesome!!! Once we get all the evals compiled, I will be sure that we send you some comments. However, from my perspective, I can say that you are “Truly an Inspiration!” Thanks again!!!
“Hey Jan! Thanks for a great key note speech and kick off to our annual FHIMA convention. In all my 25 years of HIM experience, I’ve not seen a large group of HIM professionals walk out of a meeting with such smiles on their faces. Your presentation was witty and enjoyable! I love your book- each time I pick it up to read, I’ll be thinking of you and our Tuesday morning hour of laughter! Thanks.”
“On our evaluations, people really welcomed you as a speaker. If I have the chance, I definitely will be recommending your services in the future (okay to use me as a reference, if you need it.). I thought it worked out well, for you to demonstrate all those humor techniques on us (the audience); then tell the audience what you just did in the form of the main tips you just demonstrated. One other idea for the future: Have people do a “reality check” on their own state of mind towards the end of your presentation. On evaluations, people implied that they felt “lighter”; more ready to receive information for the rest of the day.”
“We especially liked how you tailored the show to our group and that none of the jokes were offensive. Everyone thought that you were hilarious and really enjoyed your presentation.”
“Jan was easy to work with and did a great job. She was a great way to end our convention.”
“I wanted to thank you again for a great evening of comedy at The Broadmoor last week in Colorado Springs! The group absolutely loved you and I received so many positive comments about your performance. I’ll definitely keep you in mind for any future programs.
